David Woods Obituary

David "Dave" Patrick Woods, Jr.

January 2, 1939 - February 19, 2025

David "Dave" Patrick Woods Jr. of Richmond, Virginia arrived home with our Lord on February 19, 2025. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family. Dave lived a life of service to others. Service to his country in the US Navy, service to his community as a captain with the Henrico Division of Fire, service to the elderly and infirm at the Little Sisters of the Poor, and service to his church in countless volunteer hours at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Dave's favorite service was to his family. He was best known for his bountiful garden he shared with family and friends, delicious marinara sauce made from his homegrown tomatoes, a boisterous laugh, and the tightest hugs.

Dave is survived by his children, David Woods (Stephanie), Bob Woods (Holly), Michelle Woods Thomas (Bill); eight grandchildren, Abbey Colley (Pierce), Jordan Davis (Daniel), Cody Woods (Katrina), Brenna Driscoll (Bryan), Alex Pang (Paul), Payton Thomas, Samantha Woods, and Ryan Woods; two great-grandchildren, Noah Colley and Lucas Davis; and his sister, Ann Carol Eliasek (Jimmy).

The Woods family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at August Healthcare for their compassionate care of Dave.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Bliley's-Staples Mill on Sunday, March 2, 2025, with the service taking place at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Bliley's-Staples Mill.
