Dawn Vonbechmann Obituary

Dawn W. vonBechmann, 63, of Richmond, peacefully went to heaven on September 28, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Eugene Wright. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jacques F. vonBechmann III; daughter, Lauren vonBechmann (Caleb); daughter, Camden Louthan (Blake); daughter, Tolson W. Louthan; grandson, Jacques F. vonBechmann IV (McKenzie); son, Donna P. Wright; mother, Marc Wright; brother, Melissa Wright; sister, Sara W. Holloway (Chris); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dawn grew up in Richmond, VA, and was a proud alumna of Douglas Southall Freeman High School. It was during her time at Freeman that she was introduced to the love of her life, Jacques. They spent many joyful years together at the University of Virginia. After college and a move to Southern California, they decided to settle down in Richmond, where they raised their three children.

Throughout her life, Dawn was a very accomplished and proud career woman, serving as an executive at Circuit City and later as a senior executive at Walmart. She was a mentor to many and built lifelong friendships from San Francisco, CA, to Bentonville, AR. When her children settled in the greater Richmond area, she and Jacques returned in 2017 and embarked on their post-retirement endeavor as real estate agents. She was proud to be a part of Providence Hill Real Estate, where she felt she could give back to the community while doing something she loved with her life partner.

Dawn had many accomplishments in her life, but perhaps her greatest joy was being "Nana." She loved every second spent with her grandson, Tolson, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her second grandson, Garrett, this fall. Although she will not be here physically, we know she will be present in spirit, always watching over her grandchildren.

Dawn was a hardworking, fierce, fun, smart, and hilarious woman. She will be missed immensely, but there is peace in knowing she lived her life to the fullest and touched so many people. She and Jacques shared many adventures traveling the globe and spending time with family at their lake home. Their motto was "Life is an Adventure." Dawn never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good cocktail, a beach vacation, brunch, a fun pair of earrings, a musical, or a sunset. We encourage everyone to do the same in her memory!

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5200 Grove Ave., Richmond, VA 23226, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Giles Presbyterian Church or to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute.

I have known Dawn most of my life. Our moms were friends and Dawn and I went through elementary through high school as classmates. We even in the same girl scout troop. She was always such a fun and motivating person. I really admired the love she had for life. I will miss her.
