Doris Drinkard Obituary
April 12, 1932 - August 19, 2025
Doris Clayton Poore Drinkard, 93, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loye Clayton Poore and Lula Brinkley Poore; her son, Walter Patterson (Pat) Drinkard, III; and her brother, David Eugene Poore.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Colley (Dee); daughter-in-law, Jeanne Everett; sister, Evelyn Mayo (Howard); five grandchildren, Walter Patterson (Pat) Drinkard IV (Kenda), Dana Gravley Wood (Charles), Stephen D. Gravley (Leea), Caroline Everett, and Matthew G. Drinkard; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Doris worked for Central National Bank in Richmond for 32 years.
She was a devoted member of Holly Hills Baptist Church, and she served as treasurer of Fellowship Baptist Church. She gave generously of her time as a volunteer with the Powhatan Clothes Closet, the Powhatan Christmas Mother program, and as a member of the Dogwood Bells Ladies Club and the Powhatan Women's Club. She also worked at the Powhatan Pharmacy.
She will be remembered for her generosity, her faith, and her love for family and community.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, where services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery. Condolences can be made at bennettbardenfh.com.
