To the Guerry family:
As a young child, I visited Dr. Guerry many times over the years growing up, attending his beautiful office on Monument Avenue with my younger brother, Mother taking us to the big city from rural Hanover. Dr. Guerry was my opthalmologist for more than twenty years. The last time I saw him as a patient, I was a pre-med student at VCU, living in one of his rental properties, and he kindly gave me a discount. Dr. Guerry was indeed a gentleman. My family forwarded me a copy of the News Leader obituary and story, and only now have I learned of his contributions to the medical profession. I am now practicing medicine and raising a family in Roanoke. I know Dr. Guerry was a distinguished role model for many.

I trained under Dr. Guerry from 1962 to 1965. He was a great teacher and fine gentleman. I remember the stories about his career he often told. He had a great sense of humor. He will be missed. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I will forever be grateful to Dr. DuPont Guerry for providing my sister Sarah Jean Ryder with partial vision due to the effects of her diabetes. I lost my sister, but Dr. DuPont Guerry and his son, Kennon, did provide my sister some hope and some limited vision. For this I am foever grateful.

I wish to express my most sincere condolence to the family of this extraordinarily accomplished gentleman.
My late husband, Dr. Richard K. Williams was a partner with Dr. Guerry at the Monument Avenue Eye Center for many years and always spoke of Dr. Guerry with the utmost admiration.
Dr. Guerry's legacy will live on in his many accomplishments and in the fond memories of his family and friends.
