I worked for Wayne for about 15 years at DCE. Best boss EVER - and everyone who ever worked for him agrees! He was a master problem solver - Human Resources even consulted him to get clarity and a plan of action when they were flummoxed. Wayne was a no-drama kinda guy who always had your back, so we always had his too. He was competent in so many fields and trades. I once asked him to remind me how to calculate a weighted average, and he taught me efficiently and without judgement. And his memory was amazing - he could tell you the exact specifications of equipment and tools in each institution without looking them up. Wayne received many awards during his tenure with DCE, all so deserved. Best of all, he only held staff meetings when there was something the group needed to plan together. Such a no-nonsense guy - yet really fun and funny when he took the rare break. I will miss him gracing this earth. My heart goes out to his family and his extended "vokkie" work family.

I had the honor of being the Superintendent at DCE and Wayne was my Senior Deputy Superintendent.
Wayne did not require any supervision. We agreed on what had to be done and I never had to check to see that it was accomplished. He ran with the ball and was absolutely incredible in his accomplishments. He was respected by everyone, from his peers to those whom he supervised. In my 15 years at DCE I never heard anyone say an ill word about Wayne.
He was a professional beyond reproach.
It was a signal honor to work with him.
