Edward Lacy Obituary

LACY, Edward Thomas "Ed", 76, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023, from complications due to AML MDS (acute Myeloid Leukemia Myelodysplastic Syndromes). He was surrounded by family when he passed and now rests in Heaven. Ed was a loving, loyal, hard-working family man with a huge heart. He was extremely close with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

While Ed was well-known as a savvy real estate investor, this cowboy was also just as happy on his tractor. His old Virginia accent, combined with his wise brevity, often left an unforgettable impression in your memory. Everything sounded better when Ed said it. He had a giant grin, an infectious zest for life and more energy than most could imagine.

Even though he was known as a "tough guy," Ed's unwavering loyalty and endless generosity was felt by many and will not be forgotten. Although often anonymous, Ed was driven by giving his friends a helping hand when they needed it. Ed was everybody's rock--that gathered no moss. If he touched your heart, it was a bond that was never broken.

The world has lost a genuine authentic who was principled, courageous, generous, funny, inspiring, sentimental, unforgettable and truly one of the few remaining Virginia gentlemen.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 10 a.m., at Second Baptist Church (9614 River Road, RVA 23229). The burial will be private with family only. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Ed's memory can be made to support AML MDS research at Richmond's Massey Cancer Center. Please note on the memo line that the gift is in Memory of Edward Thomas Lacy.

I went to high school with Eddie. He had an infectious laugh that drew you in. He was well dressed and was well liked by those who knew him. He will be missed. Jo Jo Harris
