Edward Whyte Obituary

Edward Arthur Whyte

April 11, 1946 - July 6, 2025

WHYTE, Edward Arthur, was reunited with his mother, Genevieve Hannah McKenna, and father, John Joseph Whyte, on July 6, 2025, at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Judith McClain Whyte; three children, Patricia Whyte (Mickey) Strider, Denise Whyte (Patrick) Raible, and Gregory McClain (Eve) Whyte; eight grandchildren, Keats McClain, Griffin Warfield, and Oleanna McKenna Strider; Killian Thornton, Lochlan Carter, and Riordan Whyte Raible; Aidan Fenney, and Cora Anne Whyte; brother, John Joseph Whyte, Jr. (Gloria); sister, Genevieve Anna Sullivan (Timothy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a dedicated father and wonderful grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Edward enjoyed a 27-year career with the State Corporation Company, working until his passing, and devoted his free time performing acts of love for his children and grandchildren. He was also an accomplished member of the East Carolina University Track Team from 1964 to 1968.

His remains rest at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where the family will receive family and friends on Friday, July 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Medical Center Care Fund.
