Edwin Underwood Obituary
Edwin Lance Underwood passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 19, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lance L. Underwood, Jr. and Marjorie Mapp Underwood; and his sister Carol Anne Hobson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Rebecca; and his daughter Laura Ashby Underwood Garner (Chad); and grandchildren Finneaus Mapp Garner and Asa Quinn Garner; and son Edwin Lance Underwood, Jr. (Mark).
Ed was a graduate of Norfolk Academy and The University of Virginia. He was a lifelong supporter of the UVA Student Aid Foundation and enjoyed his career in the investment business as a Certified Financial Analyst. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by his family and many friends.
A celebration of life is being planned for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation and Hospice in Richmond, VA.

Ed was a very remarkable man. Very generous and very kind. I have known him most of my adult life. I was married to his wife´s (Becky) late brother Jack Wheless for 23 years. Ed was fun to be around, as smart as a whip and had a fantastic sense of humor. I know Ed´s death is a devastating loss for Becky, and his immediate family. Ed was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Ed was one of the nicest, easy-going guys I've known. Seeing his picture is especially hard...the same knowing, open, friendly smile of his youth. My family left Norfolk in 1965 so we only connected occasionally over the years and only once in person since NA, but he was one of those people that you think of frequently and silently wish the best... A friend who is always a friend no matter how long you've been separated. RIP, Ed. I'll see you again...
