Eileen Jensen Obituary

Eileen Jensen

October 22, 1940 - December 14, 2024

Eileen Jennifer Jensen, of Rockville, VA, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 14 at the age of 84. She was born on October 22, 1940, in Tredegar, Wales, United Kingdom. Eileen was an avid bowler and loved to cross-stitch, particularly baby blankets which she would gift to family and friends as their own families grew. She enjoyed reading and was interested in history and current politics. As a youngster, Eileen swam and continued to enjoy the water throughout her life. Eileen was a tea drinker and was very particular about how it was made, teaching each child and grandchild the correct way to prepare the perfect cup of tea. Although tea was her beverage of choice, she discovered the benefits of a 5-O'clock somewhere glass of Moscato which she often enjoyed by the pool or just before dinner. She loved games of all kinds and particularly liked to play cribbage with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching Jeopardy. She took pleasure in gardening and planted flowers and bushes wherever there was an open spot. Eileen had an inherent love of music-particularly the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven. Her favorite piece was Lenora Overture No. 3 which celebrates the power of individuals to free themselves from dark places. This was representative of much of her life, yet she thrived in her own way-always keeping busy, never feeling sorry for herself, and always excited to see her grandchildren, Rachael, Nichole, Michael, Julia, and Lance Jr. Of all these things, she loved spending time with her family and friends, of which she has many. Eileen is survived by her sister, Kate Kimmich (Scott), of Norwalk, CT; and her brother, Richard (Sue) from Queensland, Australia. She also leaves behind her son, Glenn (Marlene), of Elkton, MD; her daughter, Kimberly (Lance), of Rockville, VA; and grandchildren, Rachael, Nichole (Tucker), Michael, Julia, and Lance Jr.; and many nieces and nephews across the globe. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; and her brothers, John, Robert, and Michael. Our mom and Nana was just that to so many more.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, Dec 18 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at The Federal Club located at 13450 Palmers Way, Glen Allen, VA 23059.
