Elaine Marie Mateyka

MATEYKA, Elaine Marie, 78, of Henrico, VA, passed away on February 10, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Chakeres; and daughter-in-law, Sara Mateyka. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William Mateyka; daughter, Andrea James (Henry Williams); son, Peter Mateyka (Shelley); grandchildren, Anthony James, Jason James, Tyler James, Jordan Mateyka, Irving Mateyka, and Eleanor Mateyka; sister, Connie Morgan; as well as many cousins of the Chakeres and Siconolfi families in Ohio. Originally from Columbus, OH, Elaine was an avid reader which led her to her lifelong career as a librarian for Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Richmond, and was the first ever librarian at Old Salem Museums and Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC. She had a deep and abiding love for her family, especially her grandchildren, all of whom will miss her light in their lives. The family will honor her privately. For condolences, see www.blileys.com.
