Ella Wilkinson Obituary

Ella Correia Wilkinson

June 30, 1922 - September 7, 2024

Wilkinson, Ella Correia, born in 1922, passed away on Saturday, September 7th at Our Lady of Hope in Richmond. She was married to the late Dr. Alfred E Wilkinson for 65 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Delia; by a brother, Frank, and a sister, Margie Steele; and a nephew, Keith Steele.

She was a loving sister and aunt and is survived by a sister, Mary Hall, a sister Betty Smith, nephew, William Steven Smith (Debra), and a niece, Terri Smith Carter (Jeff); three second nieces and nephews and a large caring extended family.

Mrs. Wilkinson attended Powhatan High School. She was employed by the Virginia Air National Guard and retired with over 30 years of service.

Volunteer service and philanthropic support included civic and Catholic organizations. She was active in supporting voting polls during elections and was an active member of the ladies group at St Edward's Confessor Catholic Church.

Her greatest gifts were her love for family and friends, and hospitality to all. The family is grateful to all who loved her throughout her long life and to the wonderful caregivers at Our Lady of Hope, and her hospice team at Ascend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Edward's the Confessor Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 17th at 1:00 p.m. with a following reception.

As a young child, one of my favorite memories was how on Christmas Eve, Ella and Al would just show up in the middle of the night and wake us up (sometimes at 1am or 3am) and say that they just saw Santa leaving the house. We never did figure out how they knew, but it didn't seem unusual at the time. I will never forget how welcome their visits were. I will always miss them both -
