Eugene Whitehurst, 83, of Richmond, entered into eternal rest May 17, 2025. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late James Leslie and Fannie Burnis Whitehurst.

Eugene was a 1960 graduate of I. C. Norcom High School and a graduate of Norfolk State University. He served in the United State Army as an Artillery Officer before being honorable discharged in 1968. Eugene was employed as a Data Processing System Analyst for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.

His hobbies included attending football and basketball games at local high schools and colleges and fishing.

Eugene was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori A. Whitehurst; two brothers, James L. Whitehurst Jr. and Marvin L. Whitehurst and two sisters, Rose A. Miller (Jesse) and Phyllis V. Honor (Edward).

Surviving are his daughter, Natalie L. Whitehurst; sister, Betty J. Temple of Virginia Beach; brother Michael A. Whitehurst of Salisbury, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Interment private.
