Franklin West Obituary
Rev. Dr. Franklin James West Sr., age 91, of Richmond, formerly of Delmar, MD, departed this life on July 15, 2025. He was the Pastor of numerous African Methodist Episcopal Churches, including Third Street Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served from 1980 to 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Marylene West; three daughters, Priscilla Wilson (Kevin), Matilda Watson (Darryl) and Zelda Johnson (Randall Jr.); two sons, Franklin West Jr. and Nathan West Sr. (Tonya); seventeen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Harris and Elsie Lucas; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Betty West; one brother-in-law, Herman Council; other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where the family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, 11 a.m., at Third Street Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 614 N. Third Street, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral time. Rev. Reuben J. Boyd (Pastor). Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
