Fred Dendler Obituary

DENDLER, Fred Franklin, It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fred Franklin Dendler, aged 95, on February 2, 2024, in North Chesterfield, VA. Born on June 18, 1928, in Berwick, Pennsylvania, Fred led a remarkable life. A graduate in journalism from George Washington University, he married his beloved Patricia Ann Fegley, sharing 73 years of love and companionship. Fred's legacy includes a successful career at Tredegar Corporation. He was happy spending time with family and friends. He had passion for reading, gardening, Emerald Isle, and tennis, which he played well into his late eighties. His woodworking skills and knack for solving problems with duct tape were legendary. He enjoyed traveling all over our beautiful country and taking trips to Europe brought him great joy during his retirement. A proud Corporal in the United States Army, Fred served twice from 1946 to 1952, earning the World War II Victory Medal. He is survived by his devoted wife Patricia, and their son James Dendler (married to David Earle). Fred is predeceased by his parents Andrew Dendler and Dorothy Stout Dendler Troy, his son Gregory Dendler, and siblings Andrew, Robert, and twins Sheldon and Shirley. A memorial service to honor Fred's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bon Air United Methodist Church in his memory.

I have fun memory of visiting uncle Fred and aunt Pat in Indiana when I was young. We toured the Indy 500 speedway and got on a bus that took us on the track. I remember the tour guide asking me how fast we should go and i said 500. He said we couldn't do that but we could go 50.
