George Perciville Emerson

1931 - 2024

EMERSON, George Perciville, It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of George Perciville Emerson, Sr., of Chester, VA, on January 31, 2024. George passed away peacefully at home with his beloved Mildred at his side.

George and Mildred were married in Chatham, VA, in 1952. They resided in Chester, VA, with their two children, Bonita and George, Jr. George was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Emerson; sisters, Myrtle Casey, Alice Emerson, Nellie Berry, Dean Yeatts, Eva Riddle, Elva Cox, Fannie Bailey, Mary Herndon, Patty Hughes, Annie Allgood, Mary Wray, and Myrtie Allgood; brothers, Edward Emerson, James Emerson, Henry Emerson, Glen Emerson, John Emerson, Robert Crowder, and Irey Crowder.

He is survived by his children, Bonita Emerson Smith (Steven) and George Emerson, Jr. (Darlene); grandchildren, Vicki Smith Warnock (Michael), Carrie Emerson Coyner, Amy Emerson Smith (Josh), Megan Emerson Carson (Luke); great-grandchildren, Preston and Alexis Warnock, Hayden, Mason, and Delaney Coyner, Caroline and Logan Carson, Ruby and Alice Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George worked at Hercules Incorporated for 35 years, and then ran a successful landscaping business for 20 plus years. He loved gardening, hunting, and his beagles. George had a special place in his heart for his family and loved them all very much.

Our hearts are broken, but he is rejoicing in Heaven with his family.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with interment at Sunset Memorial Park to follow. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the funeral service, at 1 p.m.
