George Southworth Obituary

George William Southworth III

August 4, 1951 - September 9, 2025

George William Southworth, III, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2025. He was born on August 4, 1951, in Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara.

A graduate of Manchester High School, he dedicated thirty-five years to the trucking supply industry, but his real work was in the way he cared for people and poured himself into everything he did. He was the kind of man who showed up - who fixed what was broken, who remembered your favorite song, who made you laugh when you didn't think you could. Never one to sit still, Bill was always creating or fixing something with his hands. His artistic talents and craftsmanship were evident in the many handmade gifts he shared-each a lasting reminder of his care and creativity. He danced like no one was watching, sang along to old tunes, and could quote lines from classic movies like they were part of his own history.

Above all else, Bill cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved children, Will (Kaitlin) and Lindsay (Derek); his adored grandsons, Luke and Clay, who lovingly called him Pop; his dear sister, Judy; and a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends who held him dear.

Bill was thoughtful, generous without hesitation, and loyal beyond measure. His tireless work ethic was unmatched, but it was his heart that truly defined him. May his legacy live on in the love he shared and the lives he touched.
