Gerald Atkins Obituary

ATKINS, Mr. Gerald C Sr., 87, of Heathsville, Virginia passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023. He was born in Dunbrooke, Virginia to the late Herman Converse Atkins and the late Martha Washington Hopkins Atkins and he is the loving husband of Delois Ann Sisson Atkins. Gerald was retired from his position as store manager of the Thom McAn Shoes and a proud veteran of the United States Army. Gerald

was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was an avid hunter who also liked to fish and play golf. He loved his family deeply.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Gerald Converse Atkins Jr. (Debbie), Michael Wayne Atkins (Gloria); grandchildren, Gerald Atkins (Susie), Christina Garza, Michael Atkins (Greta) and Corey Atkins (Summer); great-grandchildren, Stella, Nolan, Atto, Auggie, Mason, Molly, Corey and Gabriel; his brother, Vaughan Atkins (Theresa); and several loving nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Nancy McDaniel; and brother, Channing Atkins.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. on April 22, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church, 2596 Walmsley Rd., Callao, Va. 22432. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. The Reverend Marty Bean will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gerald's loving memory to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 2596 Walmsley Road, Callao, Va. 22435.
