CROSTIC, Gracie Joyce Rafferty, of Chesterfield, Va., went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2021, at her home. She was born in Buckingham County, to Acee Menville Rafferty and Nellie Blanche Wooten Rafferty. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Stuart Crostic; son, Guy Jones; sister, Esther Ripley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Joyce taught at Richmond Christian School for 20 years. A funeral ceremony will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 7511 North Spring Run Rd. Interment to follow in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swift Creek Baptist Church.

Prayers to her family. Mrs. Crostic was my 3rd grade teacher at Richmond Christian School and the reason I became a teacher. She would let me help in the classroom before and after school, always took time to be that role model in my life. I have now been a teacher for 19 years and I have this sweet lady to thank for that.
