To The Coleman Family:

I am so sorry for OUR loss...even though I had not seen him since the 60's, my fondest memories of Gregory is that I had the biggest "little girl crush" on him and that smile, and that he was the baddest drum major Armstrong High School ever had...he was way ahead of his time back then (doing the "DOG" at halftime during the Armstrong/Walker game-Rufus Thomas style :-)I don't think we won the game that year but I know for a fact that we won the battle of the bands)...my prayer is that God will bless you all to be able to fill the void of his absence until we see him again...with heartfelt sympathy and love...

My Dear Friend,

You were indeed my good friend! I hate that we lost contact. Our lives had taken different paths. I tried hard, each time I was in Atlanta to contact you just to say hello. I was not successful and for that I am sad. I just wanted you to know how much your friendship meant to me and wanted to know how you were.

Somehow I think you knew because you were just that kind of person.

We have been friends for so many years and I have thought of you often. I asked about you but, no one knew how I could contact you.

You know it"s so ironic how things work out. I just found out that you had passed tonight and this is also the 1 year anniversary of my sister's death. She was murdered last year and I am sure you would have wanted to know but, I could not find you. I am so overwhelmed and sadden to hear of your death. You were a free-spirited artist and the most down to earth guy I have ever known.

"God" has added another drummer to his band of angels. You have found peace now.

I loved you as a dear friend and will miss your wonderful smile, laugh, and spirit. Give my sister my love and you two, get along! (smile)

My Heart is with you both. Until it is my time... I'll never forget you, and the band marches on...

Your Friend Always,

Thelma

Along with your "Sticks and Strings" partner, Johnny Gilliam (may he also rest in peace), you were an example to me while I was learning how to play this music of ours. You provided a "home base" musically and otherwise when I moved to Atlanta in 83, and you introduced me to an actual funkateer, Gary Shider.Funk on brother !

I remember as a young boy, hearing you playing the drums ang hoping one day that I could be that good. Well I never did, but my son way given the gift that you inspired in me and I thank you. I hope that God's Grace is with you.

In Loving Memory of my Father "Daddy G".

I just want you to know I love you and I miss you so.... You were the one that I always "Color him father and Color him Love." You are the man in my life that gave me everything a father could give and we were so close. I will miss our talks, no matter what you said or how you said it, it was always you and the truth. Your signature laugh always gave me joy and comfort. Your dreams you lived out have become mine and we will continue on making that funky sound of music you loved so much.

I love you Sucka!
