Greta Constance Young Simons

1936 - 2021

SIMONS, Greta Constance Young, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the age of 84. She had battled and overcome many illnesses in the last four years - she is now at peace.

Greta was born to Robert Otis and Katherine Locke Keller Young on June 29, 1936. She was a devoting and loving wife to John Noel Simons for 53 years until his death in 2019. She is survived by her daughter and "son," Robin and Johnny Harmon. Grandma loved and treasured her granddaughters, Sydney Noelle and Mackenzie Hope Harmon, all of Blackstone.

Greta was a homemaker and caretaker for many family members over the years. She cherished her time with Sydney and Mackenzie when they were small and attending all of their activities once they became older – they were the light of her life. Greta enjoyed cooking, reading, going on vacations with her family, spending time with her friends, and church activities. She was a kind-hearted, caring neighbor and friend, who always had a bright smile. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women's group.

Condolences may be made at Joseph McMillian Funeral Home in Blackstone. A private Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 26. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
