Gwen Hipp Obituary

HIPP, Ms. Gwen Dee, was a sassy, determined mother, grandmother "Gi Gi," sister and friend. She battled a long time with Aphasia and left this world on March 17, 2021, at the age of 72.

She was born to Forrest and Maryland Eggenberg on October 16, 1948. Shortly after high school, Gwen moved to Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. Gwen was blessed with two children, Phillip Mann (Carmen Mann) and Cassidy McGathey (Carl McGathey). Gwen was a grandmother to four grandchildren, Annie, Joseph, Macon and Presley.

Upon retiring from VCU, Gwen traveled the United States in her RV. Gwen's passion for adventure was unmatched. She loved the outdoors, gardening, animals and music. Most weekends were spent beautifying the yard. Some of her most memorable moments were at home with her two children, sharing holiday meals and telling stories.

A memorial is scheduled from 12 to 3 p.m. on April 10, 2021, at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Robins Room. If you cannot join us, please tune in on Zoom at us05web.zoom.us/j/85606913130?pwd=Nlk5YzdmNVN5eDkvWjBBckJEMnZXUT09, Meeting ID:856 0691 3130, Passcode: JLu30w.

Dear Gwen, miss you and our travels together. Your beaming smile was a gift to others. On many walks I think of you and smile remembering how it was a challenge to keep up with your brisk pace. Thanks for the good memories.
