Harvey Baxter Obituary

Harvey T. Baxter Jr., 83, of Petersburg, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Harvey T. Baxter Sr. and Mary Anne Clark Baxter. He was retired from Allied Chemical and a long time member of Second Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. Mr. Baxter is survived by two sons, Ted Baxter and wife, Claire of Sutherland, Guy Tucker Baxter and wife, Kathy of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one daughter, Ruth Ann Harkrader and husband, John of Hatteras, N.C.; five grandchildren, Laura Tanner Baxter, Margaret Baxter Ackerman, Christopher Guy Baxter and Kelly, Marsha Lee Baxter, and Amy Louise Harkrader and Joshua Christ; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Griffin, Clayton Ackerman, Jahfar Christ, Levi Christ and Ryan Edward Baxter. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 3, at Second Presbyterian Church on Washington St., with the Rev. Dr. Daniel E. Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Sunday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Dinwiddie Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 10, Dinwiddie, Va. 23841, or Second Presbyterian Church, 419 W. Washington St., Petersburg, Va. 23803.
