Hazel Lawler Obituary

LAWLER Hazel Potter Lawler, 85, of Richmond, died February 19, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Lawler; her parents, William Edward Potter and Nellie Dye Potter Foster; and her sister, Thelma DiPretoro. She is survived by her son, Edward Lawler and his wife, Nancy; her daughter, Joan Lawler Floyd and her husband, E.G.; three grandchildren, Matthew Lawler, Jill Pehrson, and Laura Ashley Floyd; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edith Greaner, Mildred Souther, and Joyce Nelson; and a brother, Robert Foster. Born in Selma and raised in Mineral, she later settled in Fredericksburg, where she graduated from Mary Washington College. She lived in Richmond for the last 25 years. Over the years, she worked as a teacher, wrote several genealogical books with her husband, and created art that was displayed throughout the region. She was a member of the DAR and volunteered for many organizations in the area. Family will receive friends at 12 p.m. on Friday at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Low Moor. Local memorial service to be arranged.
