Hazel Owen Womack, 86, of Chesterfield, was greeted in Heaven on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 by her husband John Henry Womack; her parents, Howard and Lydia Owen. Also welcoming her was her brother, James Owen and her grandchildren, Kristen Womack and Levi Clarke. What a celebration they had.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Tammy Clarke (Dennis); son, Randy Womack (Sharon); her grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy (Tonya), Kathleen (Alex), Caleb (Jennifer), Erin, Benjamin, Kyle, Augusta and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Logan, Evan, Landon, Keegan, Reid, Owen, Laney, Abby, Joel, Josie, Diana and Amber.

She was born in the small rural town of Clover, VA. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Crystal Hill, VA as a child and continued to graduate from Halifax High School where she had met John Henry. They married in 1956 and four years later moved their growing family to Richmond. Hazel worked for over 40 years, doing excellent bookkeeping for many companies in the Richmond area.

Family played a large role in her life. She was never happier than when she was hosting her large family at her home or spending time on family trips. They were the light of her life. Hazel served on the greeting team and served with the Awana program at Swift Creek Baptist Church for many years. She will be missed by many in the congregation.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 7511 N. Spring Run Rd., where her funeral ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
