Henry Whitehorne Obituary

WHITEHORNE, Henry Grady, Jr., died at home on November 14, 2021. Grady was born in Richmond, Va., on December 15, 1929, where he remained throughout his nearly 92 years.

Grady is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rosemary Hemesath Whitehorne; daughter, Gail Whitehorne Norman; son-in-law, Keith Brooks; grandchildren, Robin Fischl (Matt), Scott Brooks (Leanna), Kristi Roper (Mike) and Devin Norman; great-grandchildren, Evan and Emma Kate Fischl, Haleigh and Colton Brooks, Atticus and Abigail Roper. Grady was a 1948 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a 1953 graduate of the University of Richmond. Throughout his entire professional career, he was involved in real estate as salesman, broker, investor or appraiser, in which role he worked 18 years for the County of Henrico.

Grady loved music and played the piano by ear. After his retirement, he spent 25 years entertaining residents of assisted living and nursing homes. He also was a 20-year volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. He managed to complete over a dozen Richmond marathons, always finishing though breaking no records.

Visitation for family and friends will be at 10 a.m. on November 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, followed by a Mass of Chrisitian Burial at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.

Burial at Westhampton Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cedarfield Angel Fund or the Cedarfield Samaritan Fund at 2300 Cedarfield Pkwy., Henrico, Va. 23233.
