Hunter Martin

Hunter McKinley Martin, 91, of Midlothian formally of Moseley, passed away on November 12, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lucy Martin; daughter, Virginia Martin Snead; and son in law, Donald Nelson Snead. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Edwards (Frank); three grandchildren, Laura Howard (Scott), Julie Edwards, and Courtney Edwards (Brian); two great-grandchildren, Allison Snead (Tim), David Wyatt and several nieces and nephews.

Hunter was born in Sweetwater, TN, the older brother to Mary Katherine, Jimmy, Frank, and Lawrence. At a young age he moved with his growing family to Blackstone, Va, where he spent his childhood until entering the Army. After his military service he returned to Virginia becoming a truck driver for over 40 years.

He devoted his free time to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren by attending numerous sporting, dance, and school events that he may or may not have slept through. We were always reminded to check the oil in our cars and air in our tires regularly, and we were always reminded at least 3 months in advance to not wait till the last minute for our car inspections. As gruff as he could come across, he was the first to offer help to his family, friends, and Skinquarter buddies. Chuck your calls and visits meant the world to him especially the one on the 4th of July every year.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Skinquarter Baptist Church, Moseley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
