Hurshell Fornash Obituary

Hurshell N. "Tinker" Fornash, Jr.

Age 80, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Born in Mechanicsville, on June 27, 1944, on the Tyler Family Farm, he was the son of the late Hurshell N. Fornash, Sr. and Florine Tyler Fornash. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Tinker dedicated his career to Cheek & Shockley RV Sales for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Enon United Methodist Church. Tinker loved hunting, fishing, baseball, and NASCAR. He played softball in Richmond at Byrd Park and competed in several world tournaments, and was an all-star for American Legion Post 175. Tinker then played church softball for Enon UMC, coached by his father. He was a proud member and servant of the Hanover Dragoons Camp #827, Sons of Confederate Veterans. Tinker loved life and lived it to the fullest. His wit will surely be missed. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Carolyn Robertson Fornash; two daughters, Valerie Caricofe (Ron) of Franklin, TN, and Angie Herbert (Keith) of Warsaw, VA. Tinker had two grandsons who he loved dearly, Ronnie Caricofe, III and Hurshell Reid Caricofe, as well as his grand-pup, Si. He is also survived by many cousins and other loved ones.

The family received friends from 1 to 3 p.m., and services began at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Rev. What a man. I loved seeing him at the flea market on the weekends riding around in the truck with "Talley". We had many a jokes together, stories of hunting, current events, etc. Tink knew my step-dad, Ken Hicks, at Old Church Tire. I will surely miss seeing him and conversing with him.
