It is hard to believe 17 years have passed since our dear Iris departed this life.
Dr. Iris P. Perkins was one of those once in a lifetime-type persons you meet whose spirit under-grids you the moment she comes to your mind. She was indefatigable, Her loss to us on this side is a reminder to let your light shine daily and to treasure those dear to us daily for the Lord will call His anointed home to glory without notice,

I met Dr. Perkins a long time ago when I was in her Gril Scout troop. I remember going camping with her and attending various functions with her throughout my early childhood. I eventually grew out of girl scouts and met Dr. Perkins again when I began my undergraduate career at Texas Southern. It was so nice to see such a familiar face at a place where an 18 year old could definitley get lost in the crowd. She will be greatly missed.

Regrettably, I was unable to attend the funeral. My heart gets heavy whenever I think about Iris. She lived an exemplary life and I am proud to have been one of her friends. May God be with all of the family; most especially, Jessica!

Dear Family of Dr. Iris Perkins,
It is with deep regret of the loss of a most dutiful and courageous soldier. She touched the lives of so many near and far having lived a full life. She will be greatly missed by all, but her legacy and memory will live on for others to reflect and appreciate the strength and determination that was a God given gift.

Dr. Mrs. Iris Perkins was a really wonderful person to many, she was a real mentor, a mother and a teacher. I was really shocked to learn of her death, she will be very much missed by many, her very good and kind deeds will never be forgotten, her kind spirit of helping others tirelessly will always live on.
May the Almighty Lord rest her soul in eternal peace, and may he also give comfort to her family during this sad period of sorrow and grief.

When I first came to the USA, DR. Perkins was the first person I met. She quickly became my advisor, my guide, my mentor and most important, my mother in a land and culture that was foreign to me at the time. Words cannot describe DR P.'s (that is what we used to call her, DR P.) willingness to help, her motherly love and encouraging words which I have treasured every waking moment. She will be dearly missed and I hope that she'll also be the first person I meet when I get to Heaven.

I first met Dr. Perkins when she was assisting with My brother's travel from the Carribbean to enroll at TSU. She was the most patient and kind person. I remember the room was filled with individuals needing help and she was so patient and assuring. She will be greatly missed! My prayers are with the family. Sis Perkins was the same every time I spoke with her--kind, caring, and friendly. My daughter (a recent former student in Sunday school) always made it a point to see Sis Perkins even though she wasn't in her class anymore. She will be missed.
