Iva Brannan Obituary

BRANNAN Iva Ball Brannan, 92, of Richmond, died Friday, February 9, 2007. A native of Caroline County, Va., she was the daughter of the late George W. Ball and Ellen Chenault Ball. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas M. Brannan. Mrs. Brannan is survived by one son, Dr. Melvin D. Brannan (Jeanette) of Powhatan; daughter, Mary Ellen Rose (Thomas) of Richmond; two sisters, Celia Ball Titmus and Mary Emma Ball Kirkland, both of Richmond; three grandchildren, Anne Kathryn Bromm (Karl) of Forest Grove, Pa., M. Douglas Brannan Jr. and Laura B. Jakobsen (Steve) of Seattle, Wash.; and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren, Henry R. Pollard V (Betsy), Braxton B. Pollard (Anne), Coleman W. Pollard (Megan) and Berkeley P. Darr (William); and seven step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brannan was a long-standing member of Grace Baptist Church. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, where the family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, with interment to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grace Baptist Church, 4200 Dover Rd., Richmond, Va. 23221. The family wishes to thank the staff of Meadow Glenn of Richmond for their kind, loving care in the final months of her life.

Melvin and Mary Ellen,
I just learned of Iva's death. I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Iva and Doug were always so very special to me since early childhood. My mother, Virginia Lee, adored Iva and Doug. I talked with Iva a few months back after she moved into assisted living, but never got by to see her. For this, I have many regreats. For all who were touch by having had Iva in their life, she will be greatly morned and missed. My deepest, deepest sympathy to you and your families in your loss. You are truly in my thoughts and prayers. Please, Please let me know if I can be of assistance at any time. Love, Pat
