James Alvis Obituary
James (Jimmy) Alvis, 82, passed away at home in the early morning hours of May 18, 2025.
Jimmy is preceded in death by daughter, Sharon; and son, David.
He is survived by his dedicated wife of 63 years, Barbara; daughter, Karon Stokes (Kenny); granddaughter, Allison Fickinger (Tom); grandson, Hank Stokes (Jessie Barton); and brother, Robert. Jimmy also leaves behind "honorary" daughter, Gail Brooks (Jeff) and "honorary" grandson Landon Conrad.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew's United Methodist church on Monday, May 26, 2025 at noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Centerville Fire and Rescue Company 3.
Services provided by Bennett Funeral Home West Chapel.

For Barbara and Family, I was so saddened when I saw Jimmy's obituary in the paper. Jimmy was such a sweet man. I was seeing David when he became sick and died. Barbara, I know you are going to miss him. You and your family have been through so many losses. I wish I could come to the funeral but I will be having surgery. You both attended my Daddy's funeral a couple of years ago. God bless you and your family. He is with Sharon and David now.
