James "Jim" Dempsey, age 65, of Midlothian, Va., died on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Jim was born November 24, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Dale and Nancy Dempsey. He was one of eight children, three preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Melanie; son Matthew; future daughter-in-law Sarah; sisters Carol Watts (Larry), Joyce Albaugh (Ron), Sally Borghese; brother David Dempsey (Xenia); along with his in-laws and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim enjoyed his family and friends, especially if it involved a screened in porch! He was passionate about his service to the people of Garrett County, Maryland through the Better Homes for Appalachia Servant Event. He was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
The family would ask for a day of service in Jim's memory or donations to a charitable organization of your choice. The family will celebrate Jim at a date in the new year.

Yesterday
Jim will be remembered by me each time I see his handiwork at the front of Redeemer Lutheran Church. If I remember correctly, one of his many acts of service was in the building of the altar, pulpit and baptismal font years ago. Melanie and Matt, our thoughts and prayers of comfort are with you.
