James Fisher Obituary

FISHER, James Alexander, known as Jimmy, was taken far too soon on December 26, 2020, at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Lyman Fisher. He is survived by his mother, Dr. Gwen Fisher; daughter, Sophie Fisher; son, Austin Fisher; siblings, Mark Fisher, Paul Fisher (Diedre) and Ruth Gilson and her husband, Scott Gilson; and former wife, Lorraine Fisher. Jimmy was a graduate of Virginia Tech in Biology and later received an MBA. He was an avid Virginia Tech football fan, attending almost every home game over the past 20 years. He also loved working on remodeling his home and was extremely skilled in woodworking, electrical and plumbing. Jimmy's professional career included time at VCU Department of Toxicology, Hewlett Package, Agilent and most recently Altria, where he was most currently employed. We will always remember his infectious laughter. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 1, at Bliley's-Augusta, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230. A link to the livestream of the service can be found at Blileys.com. An interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 2, in Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia Tech Athletic Club.

Jimmy always had a smile and a wave for all of his neighbors; and was so dedicated to the details of the renovation of his beautiful house! I´ll miss his smile.

Jim was my friend and co-worker at HP / Agilent and later a customer and friend at Altria. He was such a nice person, truly a great guy. He was very smart, multi-talented and had a great smile and laugh. Jim was such fun to be with. We had many good times together. I will miss him and extend my deepest condolences to his family.
Sincerely, Michael Cox

Jimmy was a nice all around good guy. He was my neighbor throughout our childhood. I was friends with his sister & spent a lot of time at their house. Great memories.
Thoughts & prayers go out to the entire Fisher family.
