James Thacker Obituary

THACKER, James "Jim" Edward, 87, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born in Brunswick County, VA on August 28, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey William Thacker and Mary Lee Betterton; his beloved wife of 46 years, Cecilia "Tukie" Thacker; his brothers, Harvey William Thacker, Jr. and Frank Harvey Thacker; his sisters, Rosa Lee Brown, Mary "Fannie" Thacker, Claudia Mae Thacker Lewis, and Lillian Irene "Judy" Hudson; his nephew, Eddie Wilborn; and his niece, Debra Thacker. He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Todd Ross, Delana Barksdale, Mike Whitt, Tina Gateley, Wanda Cooke, Ronald Thacker, and Linwood Hudson; and his good friends, Joe Doak and family, Tim and Kim Binner and many other friends. Jim enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served during the Korean War. After the Army, he worked in Richmond at the Hot Spot for several years before working for General Electric where he retired from after 27 years. After retirement, he became a realtor and broker with his own company in the Richmond area.

Services are to be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at VA Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any charity for animals. Condolences may be made at Blileys.com.
