When we moved to Walthall in 1971 Janie was the first person to invite me to a neighbor´s Birthday party for Kent a kid close to David´s age. I felt included and what a great introduction to the neighborhood.
Janie, Judy, JoAnn and I spent many evenings playing bridge but mostly laughing and talking. What wonderful memories!
I seem to recall a cookie-making event at our house for a few neighborhood kids too, among them Tracy. I don´t think Amy was born yet or maybe not old enough. Of course when our dog bit Amy (a horror I´ll never forget) we were devastated but the Dean family took it in stride with no residual hard feelings, it seemed.
I´ve admired for years all that Janie did to keep the family going as she used her cooking and organizational skills to do what needed to be done. What a strong woman! She always had time for friends after moving to Powhatan. We bridge people got together for lunch no matter where we went and I´ll always appreciate that she came to my dear Mother´s funeral in Hopewell. I will miss Janie "forever".
Love to the family,

You know your mom was loved by all- but it was you, her children & grandchildren who were always loved & cherished by her. God´s blessings on you.

Janie has been one of my dearest friends for many years and was a wonderful neighbor before moving to Powhatan. She is an inspiration to all women, proving that perseverance and hard work will bring success. I will never forget her kindness and thoughtfulness. Rest In Peace, Dear Janie; you have earned your crown. With love and prayers to Tracy and Amy, Judy
