J.D. Shipman Obituary
J.D. Shipman, age 87, of Richmond, departed this life on January 4, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Betty Shipman; one daughter, Tammy Shipman; one son, Joseph Davis; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Shipman; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where Mr. Shipman can be viewed on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. Dr. Rebecca Griffin, Officiating. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral at home 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.

I extend my sincere condolences to Betty Shipman and family during this time of bereavement! As a former co-worker of J.D. Shipman at Sears Service Center, and a member of Hood Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, J.D. was a pleasure to be around and his faithfulness with the Male Chorus. He will be truly missed! I will keep the family lifted in prayers during this difficult time.
