Jean Ayres Obituary
Jean Abbie Ogden Ayres, 92, of Chesterfield, Virginia died on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Brighter Living Assisted Living in Hopewell. She was the beloved wife of the late T. Merrill Ayres, and mother of Jenny L. Perdue (Ken), Agnes Reynolds, Ellen Keenan (Jim), and the late T. Merrill Ayres, Jr.
Born on October 20, 1931, in Nelson County, Virginia, Jean moved to Richmond, Virginia after her marriage. She was a long-time member of Transformation Church RVA (formerly Southside Baptist Church) in Chesterfield, Virginia and a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles with over 27 years of service.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Clifford Ogden and Nolle Wright Ogden, a brother, Leo Ogden, and sisters, Anna Harris of Shipman, Virginia, and Mildred O. Johnson of Silver Spring, Maryland. She is survived by her sister, Faye O. Purvis of Shipman, Virginia, as well as several nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. A funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Transformation Church RVA, Chesterfield with Pastor Carl Peyton officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, Chesterfield. Online condolences at www.morrissett.com
