Jerold Paul Metz, 71, of Glen Allen, VA went home to be with the Lord on August 11, 2024. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Metz of 47 years; father, Sherwood Metz; mother, Harriet Metz; stepmother, Edith Metz; and sisters, Allison Winters and Sharon Metz. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Lauren (Keith) Shumaker; grandchildren, Kylie and Lucas; stepsisters, Arlene (Scott) Anthes; Barbara (Norman) Brand; sister-in-law, Judy (Brian) Trainor; nephews, Jim (Akemi) Winters, Jeffrey (Amy) Trainor, Daniel Trainor; nieces, Jennifer (Daniel) Kemp, Amy Bandas, Jessica (Chris) Roberts, Sandra Bandas, and Jamie Brand. Jerry was an active member of Faith Baptist, Goodwill Baptist, and Hopeful Baptist churches. He was active with the Awana program for 30+ years within the churches. Jerry was also a part of a HAZMAT team in New Jersey where he assisted with incidences such as research to help guide response efforts and handled many administrative tasks for the team. He enjoyed spending his time tinkering with electronics, cooking, and working outside. Jerry was the happiest when he could spend time with his family especially his grandchildren, which he absolutely adored.

Family and friends will be received at Bliley's - Staples Mill 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond, VA 23228 on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. Church ceremony at Hopeful Baptist Church 14340 Hopeful Church Rd., Montpelier, VA 23192 on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at church cemetery.
