Jesse Owens Obituary

OWENS, Jesse Colen, Sr., 72, of Powhatan, passed away April 5, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Owens. He is survived by his children, Jesse Owens Jr. and Jill Owens Edwards (Ben); siblings, Connie Smith, Helen Harless, Hilda Harless, Luther Owens Jr., Patricia Tingler and Barry Owens; grandchildren, Cade White, Jordan Edwards, Wesley Edwards and Drew Edwards. He loved coaching both baseball and softball, watching Cade play football and enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 10, at 2 p.m. in the Powhatan Community Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at bennettbardenfh.com.

I've known Jessie since I was a teenager. He will be greatly missed by all of our family.

I will miss Jesse greatly! He was an amazing man who loved family more than anything. My heart aches for you both Jay and Jill, but I know Jesse left you with memories to last a lifetime and then some. He was definitely one of the best Dads and uncles ever! Our condolences and love to all of you.
