Joe Pope

May 25, 1945 - October 26, 2024

Joe Edward Pope, 79 of Highland Springs, was born on May 25, 1945, in Marlboro County, S.C. He departed this life on October 26, 2024, while at home, and is now with his Lord and Savior in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ida Pope; four brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his siblings Dorothy Sligh, Naomi Harris, Curtis (Bert) Pope, and Jerry Pope.

He was preceded in death by Paula McKenney, his son's mother. He is survived by his son Christopher McKenney (Richard); daughter Kim Pope and her mother Shirley Pope Taylor; daughter Heather Mayer (Eddie) and her mother Mary Lee; two grandchildren, Hannah (Zayne) and Hailey; several nieces and nephews and many close friends whom he thought of as family.

Joe E. Pope's Celebration of Life will be held at 12 pm on November 16th, 2024 at New Life Baptist Church, 6229 Osborne Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23231 (casual race attire encouraged). A reception will follow at Glendale Ruritan Club, 6188 Charles City Rd, Richmond, VA 23231. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mechanics of Faith at mechanicsoffaith.org
