John was a fellow model railroader who I first met in 1977, and we became lifelong friends. He pioneered model operating sessions in an unfinished basement on a a layout that he built so that his children could participate. He was a cheerful, quiet man who lived his faith in deed as well as in word. John will be missed.

John was a fellow physician, but I knew him as a fellow railroader. He pioneered model railroad operating sessions before most of us knew what they were. I will miss his quiet good cheer.

The Boards were our next door neighbors on Pope Avenue for many years. John & Anne were good friends of my parents, Dora & "Judge" Williams, and we felt close to the whole family. John was a wonderful man with the most fabulous model train extravaganza! My sincerest sympathies to John, Susan, Paul and Mary Jane, but kudos to John for a life well lived.

Dr. Board was a friend and mentor to students and housestaff alike. Another one of the good guys has left us.
