Dear Uncle John, I actually penned this message to you on the day we said our Earthly "see you later." Know that you are missed dearly. Even today, I still find myself thinking of you everyday. But, my heart is happy knowing that you are resting in peace.
You will be missed. I love you and hope you are happy, whole and free. Say "Hi!" to Grandma for me!
Signing off for now, Niecey #2

John meant a great deal to my husband a fellow vet who served in Vietnam. We became neighbors and were blessed to come to know John. When my husband passed nearly 6 years ago, I moved away from that location near John to move in with my daughter. I felt very compelled however to remain in touch with John. If I had passed first, I know my husband would have moved, but he would have stayed in touch with him. He valued John for his strength of character and their shared chats on common interests. It was always nice to see his family members too, when they stopped by to see John. They all supported John evident they all valued him and loved him very much as well. What a noble man, a good friend, citizen, son, brother and uncle. May God shelter him now. I remember one-year putting Christmas lights around his tree and area at his front door, because he couldn't. I am glad I could do that before I moved and share some dishes fixed in case there was a day, he didn't feel like fixing a meal. Someday I too will move on and relish seeing him and others in the afterlife. God rest his soul.

I extend my condolences to John's family and friends. I met John as a new KT at the VA in 1995. During our introduction, he greeted me with his bright smile and warm spirit, which he always did for the remaining 27 years of knowing him. His smile never changed, nor did his spirit. He was such a wonderful man and will truly be missed. However, his legacy and how much he touched those he met, will live on in his narrative. RIP John Jackson, well done.

Trust God's Plan
It's hard to understand, why God takes those we love. Does he need them more than we do, in heaven up above? No one on earth can pretend to know what's in God's plan. All we can do is take it on faith and trust that we will see our loved ones again.
Tryone will be surely missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Love,
Brenda, Mary and Family

In loving memory of a wonderful person and friend. We will miss the telephone calls, and genuine concern that you have always portrayed as being an advocate involved, with steering the next generation. Your smile, laughter, integrity, and intellect has been far beyond mobility. May you find peace and know that you were successful in all of life's endeavors.

You had the greatest smile and inspired me to be a person of integrity. You reminded me to walk straight and strive for greatness because you were great. What a man of integrity you were! And your compassion was unmatched. Thank you, Mr. Jackson, for your heroic example. Your smile and kindness will be sorely missed, Sir.

Uncle John, there is no question that you were a special person to our family as a brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. I can hold to you through my memories of your love for family, friends, food, and the VA-in that order-lol!
I will miss our calls about nothing, your smile, and your constant reminders when I traveled for work saying -"niecey, you be careful ."I genuinely believe you thought you could change the weather-lol!
More than anything, I will miss your amazing ability to connect with people- wherever we went, there was bound to be someone shouting, "John Jackson"!
I am forever grateful for your impact on my life and my family! I love you, and I can't wait to see you again so you can let me know "what's what"-LOL!
...And yes, I will put up "7" trees for Christmas and one just for YOU!
I love you,

How do you say Goodbye to a man that meant so much to so many people ? A man that dedicated his whole life to serving others and convincing you that you should be doing the same. A man that advocated for inclusion and a society accessible to all. A man that supported everything you, and your kids did. Good bye mentor and know that you will be missed. To the beloved family of John(whom he loved and talked about all the time)...I pray your strength in the Lord. May he comfort you in these difficult times.

To John’s Family,
I have known John for many years and we often traveled together on behalf of PVA. In the darkest of hours John always was blessed with a sense of humor and always could find something positive to say. Over these last years we have maintained contact by phone and always share a few laughs about our travels. He was a great friend to and advocate for veterans and I shall miss him. Until we meet again John, may the Lord and his angels keep grace with you.

John was truly a blessing to my life. I’m a fellow veteran and we met at the VA Hospital back in 2000. He became my mentor, friend, and he even became a uncle to me. He did a lot but most of all a big support to get me through when I became injured at a young age. My Family and I love you so much and until we meet again fly with the birds.
