John Henry Rasmussen

RASMUSSEN, Mr. John Henry, age 80, of Keysville, Va., formerly of Hopewell, Va., passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Rasmussen Sr.; a sister, Joy R. Wright; and four children.

John served in the United States Army from 1963 til 1969. He worked several years in retail management before becoming a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred D. Galante; his wife, Carolyn S. Rasmussen; four daughters, Sonja L. Jackson (Scotty), Terri L. Rasmussen, Dawn R. Webber (Eric), Lisa G. Ball (Jeff); one son, Kenneth D. Garrett (Dawn); 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Cofield and Sue Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2023, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Hopewell, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
