John L. Roberson

ROBERSON, John L., was born in Bessemer, Ala., on August 24, 1935. He graduated from Bessemer High School and Auburn University. John became a pilot in the United States Navy and served for six years. He later worked for several oil companies while living in Alexandria, Va., with his wife, Betsy. In 1972 he purchased a Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store in Richmond, which he ran for many years. He loved working with the young employees he hired, and remained in touch with several.

John is survived by his wife of almost 54 years; his daughter, Anne Elizabeth (Beth); his son, Brian; his daughter-in-law, Melissa; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Mason Roberson. He will be remembered by many of his customers, employees and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home at 6900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, Va. 23224.
