John Robertson Obituary

ROBERTSON, John Singleton, 88, of Midlothian, Va., a retired Civil Engineer, husband of Joan G. Robertson, passed away on March 12, 2023. He was born in Danville, Va. on December 14, 1934 to the late Meade S. Robertson and Sallie B. Robertson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Meade Edwards; and his twin brother, William Lee Robertson. John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Gwinn Robertson of Alderson, W.Va.

John enlisted in the United States Army Corp of Engineers and served in Germany and France. He began his civil engineering career at Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, Inc. in Roanoke, Va.

In 1963, the couple moved to Richmond, Va., where John was employed by Hankins and Anderson, an engineering and consulting firm and retired from McKinney & Company as Senior Civil Engineer in 1998.

John was a member of River Road Church, Baptist since 1963 and was a founding member of the Friendship Class.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
