Judy I am so sorry for your loss. The silver lining is he died peacefully at home with you. I hope he did not suffer at all.
And I hope you are doing as well as can be expected. Thinking of you--Stacy West, Esq.

I was so incredibly lucky to know John and to report to him for 2 years at Morgan Lewis. He was the head of the Firm Practice Development Committee and taught. me so much about business development, logical thinking, empathy and strategic thinking. And he did all of this with patience, a huge sense of humor and a wonderful smile. I will never forget getting his xmas card, always signed "Judy and John", every year since I left the firm 32 years ago. I will treasure all of my memories of you John and I am so, so grateful to have known you. I will never forget how amazing you were to me and everyone around.

I was John´s secretary at Morgan Lewis. He treated me with respect and we shared a true friendship even after he retired from Morgan Lewis - for that I will always treasure it.

John and I were classmates at St Albans School. I remember him as curious, encouraging, optimistic, and an attitude that nothing could get him down.
I never played soccer before but made the team as a second string halfback. John played wing. Whenever I got in trouble, I got it to John. He knew what to do.

John Shenefield was an extraordinary presence at President Carter´s Department of Justice. He was brought to Attorney General Griffin Bell´s attention by Justice Lewis Powell, who had known John at Hunton & Williams, as the best lawyer he had ever known. That is the context I first came to known John, and it set the standard for the rest of his very productive life. He was a gentleman, a scholar, and cared deeply for his family, friends, the National Cathedral, his law firms, and his quest for knowledge and peace. He accomplished much and widely admired in all he did. I am blessed to have known him and shared in some of his life. My sincere condolences and prayers go to his beloved wife Judy, his sons, and family and friends.
