John Herman Thomas Sr.

THOMAS, John Herman, Sr., 88, of Chesterfield, Va., passed away Friday, August 20, 2021. Born in Chesterfield, Va., he was the son of the late Lona Dance and Walter Herman Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. In his earlier years he enjoyed working with little league baseball and going camping. Mr. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois B. Thomas; three children, John Herman Thomas Jr., Walter Warren Thomas (Rhonda) and Tricia Thomas Meagher (Maurice); eight grandchildren, Justin (Stacey), Jessica, Mackenzie, Abigail, Taylor, Madison, Elizabeth and Maureen; and three great-grandchildren, Hadley, Reid and Hailee. The family would like to thank the staff at The Crossings at Ironbridge and Traditions Health Hospice for their love and care shown towards Mr. Thomas. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
