John Wake Obituary

WAKE, John Byron, Sr., 98, of Deltaville, Va., passed away on August 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Thelma White; siblings, Herman, Bowdion, Louise and Ann; and his son, Billy. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Carolyn; sons, John (Sharon), Jim (Debbie), Bob (Nancie); grandchildren, Lee (Kelly), Byron, Molly (Jason), Eric (Caroline), Will (Tiffany), Caroline and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Kellen, Brynley and Preston; and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Summerfield and her children.

John was a proud Navy veteran and served in the Virginia State Police. He started Tom Brown Hardware in 1955, and retired in 2000. John was devoted to his faith. He was active in the South Richmond and Middlesex Rotary Clubs and had perfect attendance for 57 years.

A graveside memorial gathering will be held at noon on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Clarksbury UMC in Deltaville, Va., where a reception will follow at his home.

In lieu of flowers, and to recognize the efforts of Julian Metts, World Pediatric Project, Linwood Cook and Friends of Barnabas, whom made such a difference in our world, please consider a donation in their honor.
