Johnnie Barley Obituary

Johnnie Mae Barley, age 79, of Richmond, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Richmond Community Hospital. She is survived by her five sons, Franklin Llewellyn (Joyce), Samuel Leon, Jerome (Vanessa), Reginald Moore (Hattie) and Willie Everett; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; five sisters, Alice Jackson, May Lou Edwards of Portsmouth, Va., Hortense Taylor, Irma Lee Armstrong and Doris Nell Armstrong of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one brother, Melvin Moore of Philadelphia, Pa.; a host of nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Frances Moore, Christine Clark and Irene Hollaway; many other relatives and friends, among them several devoted friends, John and Eunice Harris, Grady, Florence Hall, Ida Lou Rippy, Janice Ryles, Iris Watkins, Vera Barley and Ruby Barley. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Sunday, 5 to 6 p.m. Remains will lie in state Monday, 10 a.m. at Fourth Baptist Church, 2800 P St., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Rev. Michael J. Jones officiating. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery.
