Josephine Economy Obituary

ECONOMY, Josephine "Josie" Avery, 13, of Bon Air, Virginia, passed away on March 24, 2024, after a five-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her beloved family, her mother, Jennifer Alexis Economy, father, John Mark Economy, and brother, Maxwell Cameron Economy. She leaves behind extended family members, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who loved her as fiercely as she loved them. Josie also cared greatly for her many friends. She touched countless lives with her contagious energy and joyful spirit.

Josie was a gifted artist. She created in many mediums, especially drawing, painting, watercolors, jewelry making, crafts, makeup, and cosplay. She designed a line of fabric to support the charity Quilts for Kids and enjoyed sharing her passion for makeup with her friends and followers on Instagram (SodaJoy404). She built a community of friends wherever she went through her kindness and love of art, popular culture, and fun.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a tribute to Josie from 1 to 4 p.m. on April 21, 2024, at the Hazen Memorial Library in Historic Bon Air. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes your pictures and memories with Josie. If you are able, consider a donation to Josie's Acts of Joy (gofundme.com/josies-acts-of-joy).

Hey. Im cash . I´m was one of Josie´s freinds in elementary school. Im so sorry this happened to you . As soon as I saw this I started crying. Josie was an amazing person and one of the most confident, funny people I´ve ever met. She gave me the confidence I have now to be who I am and to be fearless like her. She was and will always be an amazing role model and I am so sad she was taken so soon. I send y´all love and support

I was so exceptionally lucky to know and love Josie as her teacher. Her positive zest for life, no matter the obstacles in front of her, was inspiring. She was sunshine and light in human form. I will forever miss her shining smile, her amazing fashion sense, her glittering makeup, and her tight hugs. All my love to Jennifer, Mark, and sweet Max.

This was a truly creative, spirited soul who has a full legacy of love despite the shortness of her time with others. She has been an inspiration and has magnified love through her life. JEB
