Kevin Bayes Obituary

BAYES, Kevin, of North Chesterfield, departed for a better place on January 19, 2023. He was courageous and loving throughout a long and arduous battle during which he blessed many new friends with his kind and gentle soul.

Kevin's departure was preceded by that of his Mom and Dad, Talva "Irene" Bayes and Smith H. Bayes of Flatwoods, Kentucky.

He is survived by brothers, Bruce (Nenna) Bayes of Flatwoods, David Bayes of Ashland, Kentucky, and Ronnie (Andrea) Bayes of Tampa. He has nieces and nephews, Jennifer Bayes (his "SweetPea") and Andrew Bayes of Flatwoods, John (Kim) Bayes of Frankfort, and Corey (Chelsey) Bayes of Long Beach; also great-nieces Addi, Ali, and Aubri Bayes; and great-nephews Ben and Nathan Bayes.

Kevin also has a multitude of cousins and an extended Virginia family that will miss his fun and free spirit.

He had many lifelong friends in classmates at Russell High School and Morehead State University in Kentucky, as well as neighbors, coworkers, professional associates and almost anyone with which he crossed paths. This includes his best friend, Kyle Campbell, who stuck by his side throughout the battle and was amazed and blessed to see Kevin's truly kind and loving soul in even the roughest of times.

Kevin was a talented artist, a great cook, and avid sports fan. He was a friend to all, even strangers, and enjoyed cooking and anything to do with animals. He loved his pups and loved spoiling them.

Kevin will be sorely missed by the many that have known him, but his legacy of kindness and gentleness along with a laugh and a smile makes the world a better place.

In Kevin's spirit of doing anything to help anyone, he appreciates thoughts of him while donating to local animal rescue shelters.

A sweet and gentle soul, indeed. Having worked with Kevin for a number of years, I knew I could always count on him professionally, and that whenever we talked he would always have a kind word...and that we'd swap stories about our dogs. Sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

We will miss Kevin. He was always such a giving person; he spent quite a bit of time working with charities, including those sponsored by the Virginia Society of Association Executives, where he was an active member. As a co-worker and fellow member of VSAE, I've received so many nice messages from other association executives who appreciate Kevin's big heart and smile.

Kevin and I worked together at OMG. He was a great co-worker and mentor. Loved his great sense of humor. I wish his family strength and peace during this difficult time.
